This is a standard Sonic 3 ROM hack that changes the music in most levels to that of Sonic 3D Flickies’ Island/Blast soundtrack.

• Angel Island Zone now plays Green Grove Zone’s music.
• Hydrocity Zone now plays Rusty Ruin Zone’s music.
• Marble Garden Zone now plays Volcano Valley Zone’s music with Act 1 and Act 2 themes in reversed order.
• Carnival Night Zone now plays Spring Stadium Zone’s music.

Things The Player Needs To Know:

This is only a hack of Sonic 3 Alone. No Sonic 3 & Knuckles and attempting to lock-on in any way won’t work.

Ice Cap Zone and Launch Base Zone retain their original Brad Buxer music from the retail version of Sonic 3.

This is one of Leafy’s earlier builds of the hack with only a music change.

Both Sonic 3 and Sonic 3D: Flickies’ Island/Blast use the exact same sound engine (Sonic 3&K SMPS Z80 mod) so porting Blast’s tunes over to Sonic 3 is relatively easy.

I added a European PAL ips patch version in the ZIP file for those that own a PAL 50Hz Mega Drive console and might feel left out and can’t play the NTSC-U Genesis version. ”PAL hardware owners, you’re not forgotten here”.

No slow music for PAL.

I guess it’s an incomplete hack seeing as not all the music from Sonic 3D was ported over, but what’s here is still nothing short of amazing!

The hack has now become a passion project by Leafy with many more things added into it such as being able to find all 7 Chaos Emeralds in Angel Island Zone due to some new routes and even having to use a 32X for another more recent build.

When patching please use the (USA) ROM of Sonic 3 for both the PAL European and NTSC-U patches. I’ve built them off of the USA ROM to fix the CheckSum. If you use the PAL ROM for the PAL patch, it might still work as normal but the CheckSum will not be fixed. You have been warned.
