Ambitious and innovative ARPG with a genuine translation

Written by: Ok Impala! - October 17, 2024

Chronicle of the Radia War is a little known ARPG for the NES. It feels a bit like a Mana game, with its action based combat. In this game however, you've got up to 4 partners fighting along side you. Radia War is a pretty ambitious game with loads of original ideas. For example there are random encounters, but the battles themselves play out like an action game. There isn't a separate battle screen either, they just play out on the exploration screen... in a NES game...four years before Chrono Trigger(!). Playing Radia War you are regularly surprised by design...

Quality translation with attention to detail!

Written by: Ok Impala! - October 17, 2024

Earth Seeker is a pretty obscure ARPG that never saw the light of day outside of Japan and in its homeland it was largely ignored when it released. I read about the premise of Earth Seeker back in the day and was intrigued by its setting and graphics. For years it seemed pretty unlikely that the English speaking community would ever experience Earth Seeker. In comes Brand Newman, who has made it his mission to translate interesting JP only Wii games. Brand made a quality translation with attention to detail. Not only the text is translated, but he also painstakingly...

Highly recommended!

After a complete playthrough of Zelda 2 Redux I can safely recommend this hack to all players who are hesitant to try out Zelda 2 for themselves. Zelda 2 Redux fixes almost all annoying aspects of Zelda 2, while keeping the great things intact. Gone is the long grind and the broken lives system. Gone are annoying enemies that steal your exp and take endless time to kill. In is a save system, restart at a temple when you die, better balancing, better dialogue, and many other things. Finally you can just enjoy the game's best sides: The world exploration,...

HEY KANDOWONTU, THANK YOU SO MUCH MAN!!!

Look: https://youtu.be/Et3tPK3T-CU A few years ago I did many, many combos from various games, Weapon Lord being one of them; however, something that always bothered me a little was the fact that the game was slow, but not anymore, thanks to you!!!

An Awesome Hack For Your Streets Of Rage Library

Written by: Adrian Gauna - October 16, 2024

I've always preferred the first Streets of Rage game to parts 2 and 3, I think it has the best music and I like how in each stage, the setting remains the same all the way through. This hack by BillyTime Games is awesome and definitely worth trying out. In the original retail version, selecting yes when reaching Mr.X would send you back to Stage 6 over and over until you selected no, but in this hack selecting yes only sends you back to stage 6 once, the next time you meet Mr.X he doesn't ask you a second time...

This Underlying Issue Finally Got Addressed And It’s Great!

Written by: Adrian Gauna - October 16, 2024

For years and years it was an underlying issue not spoken or talked about much on other forums. For whatever reason, on an original Sega Mega Drive/Genesis console this game only worked with 3 button controllers and only the official Sega 6 button control pad, no third party 6 button controllers would work properly with this game, buttons start and C wouldn't respond with each input and even adding an external extension cable to make the cord length longer onto the official Sega 6 button controller would make buttons start and C very jerky again not responding with each input...

Not Only The Best Port Of Lemmings But The Prettiest Lemmings Hack On The Sega Mega Drive!

Written by: Adrian Gauna - October 16, 2024

This port of Lemmings for the Sega Mega Drive/Genesis has always held a special place in my heart, it has one of the greatest soundtracks to ever grace the console, the graphics are also very accurate to the Amiga original, this version also has more content than all the other ports on other consoles, plus this port is nostalgic to me my parents bought it for me way back in 1994 when I was 10 years old and it's always been a game with great replay value getting me to constantly revisit it every 2 or 3 years. I know...

Excellent Hack if I say so myself.

Written by: JRussellRetroGaming - October 14, 2024

Absolutely brilliant Hack. I'll say this though. This game is very enjoyable to play. Like the splash screen says in the start. It truly works on a real Sega MegaDrive console like it's suppose to. Glad the music on this has been optimised to run on a PAL System.  Thank you. ^^

Wireless controller fix for Mortal Kombat – Arcade Edition Enhanced..

Written by: 2SpaZ-4-U - October 13, 2024

Although designed for the stock rom, I took a chance and added this on top of the MK Arcade EE hoping to fix a controller issue with the game. The Arcade Edition is absolutely great but alot more taxing, so its no suprise, it has some slowdown at times, so an OverClocked system will ofcourse mitigate the issue. I myself am using a pair of 8bitdo pads, and controls goes out the window doing exatly that.. So back to stock speed i went.. Well no more, cos the solution is here.. This hack from BillyTime fixes the issue.. The controlls...

A good start.

First of all, I need to preface this by saying this is an important project, and I want it to succeed. I have to make this preface, because such a review is going to dig deep and focus on how to make the (many at this point) flaws better. Character art cohesionVery ambitious and comprehensive changes are being made here, and I hope they continue to improve over time. The level select character portraits replacements are fantastic, for the most part. Lots of work was put into making those look good, and it shows. You can see how much love...

This hack transforms the original into what is the definitive version of Dr. Mario in my opinion. I prefer this one to even the SNES/SFC version. It's a must have for any ROM collection.

This is by far the BEST SMB3 Hack I have EVER PLAYED!

Written by: ZxRO - October 5, 2024

Mario Adventure 3 has so many new features that it doesn’t feel like just a Hack, it feels like Nintendo made a New Super Mario Bros. Game for the NES. The Stages, Bosses, New Items and Training Upgrades that add a RPG Element are all well thought out and make the Game FUN to Play. PLUS with the Game getting Updated it ONLY gets BETTER! I want to Thank the Team that has put 12 Years into making this INCREDIBLE Game, Thanks for ALL the TIME and EFFORT. MARIO ADVENTURE 3, GO PLAY IT!!!

Mario Adventure 3 would been a worthy sequal in the 90s! And feels awsome to play today!

Written by: bogaa - September 26, 2024

This does not feel like a hack this is a brand new Mario game! Surprises behind every corner! New everything and the new physics feel super smooth to play. How can you put so much stuff into a NES game that small? Seems like magic.

Beatable AKA playable

Written by: MegaRyeGuy - September 12, 2024

I love vehicular combat games.  I've probably played most of the notable ones out there.  One thing that all of the good ones share is arcade style racing that is somewhat forgiving, and allows for some recklessness along the way.  This hack brings this otherwise unfair game into the realm of fun.  Now I can advance past the first race even if my laps aren't perfect.  Combat Cars was very much in need of a tune-up, and for that reason, this hack is highly recommend.

Overall Good Level, Graphic Hack for Castlevania 1

Written by: deleted - September 11, 2024

Overall a pretty good solid level, graphic hack for Castlevania 1. A few of the boss graphic changes like Frankenstein's, and Dracula's head looked a little weird. A few candles were stuck in solid background tiles. A few monsters have minor issues like they can fall through solid tiles or there placed in air instead of a background tile. Difficulty is maybe slightly harder than the OG game.

A mostly functional complete level editor for Castlevania 3 with some caveats.

Written by: deleted - September 6, 2024

Can edit levels, backgrounds tiles, stairs, sprites, palettes, monsters, candles etc. Some limitations with editing entity monster, candle data for horizontal levels as the data is shared between levels. Clocktower certain parts you can't edit without a hexeditor or ASM. Some bosses can't be edited, moved to other areas without code modification. Support for Japanese version is very poor. A lot of things can corrupt data like stairs, doors, wall items, music, bosses, curse severity, random crashses etc. A few areas have bugs the US version doesn't. After a certain point you'll get a fatal error message rom has been...
