Lemmings Restored is a very ambitious patch made by Squidgy who completed it after 15 years of very hard work.
This patch removes all the existing SEGA levels and their repeats and puts back all the original Commodore Amiga levels in their place. Levels like level 18 of Mayhem ”And Then There Were Four…” level 29 of Mayhem ”Save Me” and level 26 of Fun ”Nightmare On Lem Street”.
This patch also includes Slogra’s wonderful colour patch which improves the colour palette and brings it closer to the Amiga original.
There is also an added Krisalis audio credit with the names ”Matt Furniss” and ”Shaun Hollingworth” to the opening title screen scrolling text. Squidgy is also credited as the ROM hack creator in the scrolling text.
Checksum is fixed in all patches so the patches will run perfectly when using authentic Master System bios.
ABOUT SQUIDGY:
The genius Squidgy learned patiently how to use Pooty’s old Mappy software for Lemmings on the Sega Master System also with some help over at SMS Power by supplying some very useful source code documents. In a 15 year hiatus from public life and in his spare time he learned how to code and make new levels, take out old ones and change other things in the game. He has also released an editor tool for this game to make it far easier for new comers to learn how to make their own levels and code them in.

If you want to try the editor then it may be a good idea if you watch the whole tutorial video by Squidgy first, otherwise you won’t know what you’re doing.

Level 26 Fun: Nightmare On Lem Street
Level 14 Tricky: Lemming Lament

Level 25 Tricky: Cascade
Level 15 Taxing: It’s Not Over, Til’ It’s Over
Level 21 Taxing: Feel The Heat!
Level 30 Taxing: Exodus!
Level 9 Mayhem: Curse Of The Pharaohs

Level 17 Mayhem: Stepping Stones
Level 18 Mayhem: And Then There Were Four…
Level 21 Mayhem: With A Twist Of Lemming Please
Level 28 Mayhem: Mind The Step…
Level 29 Mayhem: Save Me
Some other levels not mentioned have been made more difficult by changing the percentage, skills available and or changing the map ever so slightly as they were ridiculously easy in the original retail version.
NOTES:
The levels are now freely accessible from the title screen without the need to input the cheat on the Sega logo. Just select your mode from the menu and go to ”NEW LEVEL” and pick your individual level. If you input the cheat it will disable the option to play any level freely and you’ll have to use the passwords.
V1.2 is not the final build of this patch, there are still some minor bugs left in this patch from v1.0 that haven’t been addressed yet such as the fall distance height in level 30 of Fun which has been oddly tweaked where the Lemmings splat from a very small height, the level is still doable.
This patch also contains many unfinished new levels from Squidgy. They can be found in the title screen and cheat screen. Some of these levels are not finished which means they can’t be beaten, where as some other ones can be beaten. These are most likely testing levels for another upcoming Lemmings SMS hack where Squidgy plans on releasing more future editions of Lemmings on the Master System.
This patch sits at 512K doubling the size of the original.
The ZIP file contains all the builds so far:
v1.0 Squidgy’s level and title name edits only.
v1.1 Squidgy’s level and title name edits with the Krisalis audio credit on the title screen with the name Matt Furniss added to the cheat screen.
v1.2 Squidgy’s level and title name edits with the Krisalis audio credit on the title screen with the name Matt Furniss added to the cheat screen. This latest patch also includes a colour patch by Slogra which brings the colour palette closer to the Amiga original.
Matt Furniss (who produced the music in this game) was sadly never credited in the original retail version nor was Shaun Hollingworth who coded the Krisalis sound driver. Their names are now rightfully included in this patch and any future patches to come. Probe, you should be ashamed for not crediting Matt Furniss, his music conversions is half the fun of Lemmings.
INSTRUCTIONS:
Inside the ZIP file you’ll find all the IPS patches of this ROM hack, they’re all in Lunar IPS format and simply need to be patched to the retail Lemmings SMS ROM. The checksum is fixed in all of them.
Happy gaming!
