It’s definitely a prettier version of the game with even more colour edits than before. Very grateful to have worked on this project alongside Josh. Well done J.Russell Retro gaming! This patch is now the best version of this game available.

Not Only The Best Port Of Lemmings But The Prettiest Lemmings Hack On The Sega Mega Drive!

Written by: Adrian Gauna - October 16, 2024

This port of Lemmings for the Sega Mega Drive/Genesis has always held a special place in my heart, it has one of the greatest soundtracks to ever grace the console, the graphics are also very accurate to the Amiga original, this version also has more content than all the other ports on other consoles, plus this port is nostalgic to me my parents bought it for me way back in 1994 when I was 10 years old and it's always been a game with great replay value getting me to constantly revisit it every 2 or 3 years. I know all the solutions off by heart on account of replaying the game so many times over the course of 30 years.

This hack improves and corrects many aspects of this game making it the best one to play. The colours have all been improved in all the level tile sets including the special levels, in particular the dark red in the fire/hell tile sets really makes it look better, the icy blue level pillars have the correct black colour in the centre instead of the adjacent background blue of the retail version. I also like how many of the level title names have the correct names and there's lots of spelling typo fixes which is always welcoming. Another great thing about this hack is that it is designed for the PAL (Europe) version of the game. 99 out of 100 times, patches and hacks are always made for the USA NTSC Genesis leaving the PAL hardware owners left out and forced to play with region lockout blocking devices and slow music so it's good to have a bit of balance in the community and something for once intended for 50Hz and not 60Hz.

Well done JRussellRetroGaming! I encourage all Lemmings enthusiasts to give this one a go.
