Fantastic hack. That puts a new spin on the game. Literally with new sound!

Written by: bogaa - December 18, 2024

If you love DKC and did not hate Mario.. go play! I can not see how you would be disappointed. You can experience the game all over again with a new playable character and enjoin new music along the way.

Seems to be a level hack.

Written by: bogaa - December 15, 2024

- The hack seems not to be intended for the european PAL version. It does work but the music is all speed up and I could play through the hack on the USA latest revision just fine. - I have not notice any game-play changes but since a levels did make me play different I did not mind. I am always excited to find some level hacks! (Could not find the mafia and did not bother to beat levels after stage 1) - Beside that you get what is described. Some new levels in stage 1. Personally not to excited...

Nothing new and lack of communication on the source in the description.

Written by: bogaa - December 14, 2024

I write this as a review since my last comment got overlooked. The patch fails to deliver any new effort to make access to the cheat easier. There is also only one of them accesible. Nothing new what you could already accomplish with a chat code. .. -1 star It might be cool to add a veriaty of cheats to choose from as patches. Since not everyone does play them on a emulator to just enable some. Thanks for the patch. Happy hacking

The best SMK romhack so far! So many options and graphical changes provide a flawless and new experience!

Written by: SNESer - December 8, 2024

In terms of atmosphere, Epic Racers does very well, just like Super Mario Kart. The style of Epic Racers is clearly different, but absolutely successful. The characters come from all over the world and I have to admit that I have no idea who they are supposed to be, except for Jesus of course. The levels aren’t as colorful and gimmicky as in SMK or Parigo Kart. Instead, you have nice interesting worlds, some of which have a spiritual touch. The sky world in particular stands out extremely positively. The Dragon Ball inspired track is also quite cool. The graphics...

Yoooooo!

I laughed so hard when I played through Bombman's stage, I'm gonna play it through to see if Box Art has the same face at the end, it'll be hilarious if it is. Just a heads up, when you're shooting while on a ladder, you still see MM's OG sprite.

One of the best!!

Written by: kaine23 - November 28, 2024

This is one of the best hacks I’ve ever played. You’ll see the differences right from the start with the new graphics for the opening story scroll and when you load it up. The new graphics for Link look great and look a lot cleaner than that for Zelda 2 itself, and the new and old enemies you’ll fight got a makeover as well. Animations in the overworld like moving grass and water were restored from the FDS Zelda 2 as well. graphics for the towns and temples look wonderful and the textures do look different than that from vanilla...

Everything you could expect and more!

Written by: Arbalist94 - November 28, 2024

I hadn’t really played Zelda II at all until I noticed the Zelda II Redux hack, which did a great job smoothing out the rougher edges of the game and left me wanting more Zelda II action. Amida’s Curse absolutely blew me away. The dungeons are designed incredibly well, making much biter use of features that were somewhat ignored in the base game. Enemy encounters on the overworld are gone, but instead there are far more side-scrolling sections and there are secrets to be found everywhere. Difficulty-wise it starts out a lot smoother than the original, making this hack far...

Is this even DKC anymore?

Written by: Romhack Plaza - November 27, 2024

Taking my headline from the name of the final stage in this hack, this one truly is an anomaly in the DKC hack library. At first I didn’t really know what to expect when the description of this hack defined it as a “Troll Hack”. After playing through it completely though, I don’t really feel like that’s the right phrase to describe this. Most of what is considered “Trolly” seem to just be the unique level mechanics, but that is what makes this such an awesome hack. Though some levels are somewhat “vanilla”, there are quite a few with completely...

Weaky mod that turns DKC into somehting to dye or life in..

Written by: bogaa - November 25, 2024

Not much to die if you can dye the game instead.. decide yourself if you like to die without having tried it!     - You will not find the same as in the vanilla expirience so the hack is not for everyone.     - If you like to try yourself at getting super quick while trieng not to die you will find joy in this.     - If wild and random colors and waky features are not your thing, you might lock for something else. Else have fun to see goal post flying after you among other things hehe...

A Great Patch For Those Of Us That Are Not Good At Learning Fatality Moves

Written by: Adrian Gauna - November 23, 2024

Love the Mega Drive/Genesis port of MKII and I myself know how to do the correct stage fatality combinations quite well for many years and once you learn them they're not that hard to do but there was once a time when there was no internet and no where to reveal how to pull off the many finishing moves and I bet there are still gamers today that are still in that mindset who love Mortal Kombat II but still can't perform any basic finishes which is where this patch comes in. This patch makes performing the most basic stage...

Simple and great !

Written by: Petelag - November 21, 2024

Thanks you for this simple hack that it so essential in puzzle bubble ;-)I played it on my mister fpga and it worked flowlessNote that neogeo rom do not have the same format in mister fpga (there are these files instead: crom1, m1rom, srom, fpga, prom, vroma0) so what has to be done is to take the patched "d96-07.ep1", rename it into "prom" and put it in the pbobblen.zip fpga version

Why does this feel so much easier?

Written by: kandowontu - November 16, 2024

So much of the nonstop dread of the onslaught of SMB enemies and obsticles now feel much less threatning thanks to this hack. Very clever, and very enjoyable! Who knew you could simplify SMB down to this level.

NGL, your demake really impressed me, I wish you could do the same thing on SEGA Megadrive/Genesis! I really want to see how GD would sound and look like on 16bit console, that would be great for SEGA Genesis users to try it out, great stuff

A shining example of Romhacking

Written by: Ok Impala! - November 6, 2024

The Romhacking scene has produced several stellar Rom Hacks over the years. Proving that fan creations can often surpass the source material. Mario Kart - Horizons is a shining example of such a Rom Hack. From the moment you load up the title screen you'll notice the polish of this title. A brand new soundtrack starts playing and beautifully touched up Mario Kart drivers enter the screen. (Those new Toad and DK sprites are just cute!) From there it keeps getting better as you start your first race. The creator clearly has some experience in creating Mario Kart tracks. Even...

Your ears won’t puke anymore!

Written by: DarkerFalcon - November 5, 2024

1943 was one of my favourite games in the arcades and the NES port is arguably excellent. The music is ported well and the gameplay is very good and responsive. However, my only problem with this port is that when you are below 20 helath, the excellent music gets spoiled with a god-awful and extremely annoying warning music that completely ruins the game's atmosphere and also make my ears want to puke. This patch does exactly what it says and i can say that this gives at the game a much better experience. Totally Recommended!!!

“Mario 3 Mix” or hack the same potential

Written by: diablo666 - November 4, 2024

The new things introduced in Mario 1 are really surprising. Many different ideas have been implemented, but it is played as IF the creators of the game themselves did it. In terms of Implementation and changes, I can really compare with "Mario 3 MIX"

Quite a lot of work

Written by: diablo666 - November 4, 2024

I like the graphic solutions here, the reworking of the levels, the adaptation of everything to the original first Mario. Easter Eggs, bosses and new features that can be found by chance. Painstaking work that you can try out and evaluate yourself

Good update and fix

Written by: diablo666 - November 4, 2024

I came across this on a website at the time. I was disappointed by the fact that the second level was destroying the game. And how I found out and looked at other levels in the original... I was shocked. The levels were incomplete and buggy. Now I will say: Thank you for fixing bugs and improving levels in terms of Level Design and graphic plan. The hack is good in graphic terms, level design, and more or less the music is chosen competently

Quite an interesting project

Written by: diablo666 - November 4, 2024

I'm a hedgehog fan... And that's me... But not about that now. About the hack: 1. The levels and Level Design are executed competently and interestingly. I want to study and replay 2. The graphic part is done correctly and does not cause problems for the most part. I omit the minimum fuzzy moments, because it is insignificant. 3. Music. The remixes sound well, as if they originally lived on this console. 4. The new bosses are made soundly and interestingly. And the old ones were competently updated, or they were updated for easy hydration. Well, those were the pros....

As someone who played the original game, I can say: "The game has become even more interesting in terms of colors and seems to be faster in some moments. A great update and so a good game"
