This is a complete English translation for the Sega Mega Drive/Sega Genesis version of Puyo Puyo (ぷよぷよ).

The spoken dialog from the STORY MODE has been translated to maintain the original humorous tone when possible. Where Japanese jokes/slang are used, these have been localized to make sense in English, while keeping to the original context.

The three Japanese voice clips have not been changed. This is to preserve the original voice clips from the original game.

Very great job on this translation but I have one request. Can you also make this compatible with the MSU-MD and MD+ hacks of Puyo Puyo in an update? I want to play this translation hack with the enhanced audio.

This Is A Huge Accomplishment And Helps Introduce The Series To More Western Audiences

Written by: Adrian Gauna - March 8, 2025

Okay i've played through the hack from start to finish and am very pleased with all the in-game dialogue being changed to English and being able to finally understand what the characters are talking about before battle. The game's story makes almost no sense and the characters that Arle encounters are almost put in at random from different cultures and myths, but many Japanese games of this era tend to continue in a way that makes no sense at all and back in the day not originally being available for a Western audience means these games can get away with not making any sense at all.

Having all the language translated makes the game a lot more enjoyable to play as the story, dialogue and the navigation becomes much more easier to understand and enjoy. I can only encourage you brilliant modders to try and translate the second Puyo Puyo game as that one is buried in deeper Japanese text. Just trying to change the rules of the game in the options menu is a real gamble as you don't know what you're doing? But that's for another day.

Thank you RadioTails and crew! A ROM hack very much welcomed in the community. 5 out of 5 stars.
