When it comes to colors, Ghost Chaser Densei features somewhat dim ones compared to Densei Makai, the original arcade game it’s based on. This is because the developers made it so the game’s brightness variable (which then gets sent to the SNES’ brightness register) only goes up to hex value 0×0A, which would be around 60% brightness.
This hack fixes this issue by making that brightness variable go up to hex value 0×0F (100% brightness), allowing the game to display the actual undimmed palettes.
Note that this hack is also compatible with the translation patches available for this game.
