This patch adds mouse support as well as new content from the PlayStation port to the SNES original. There are also lots of improvements like bugfixes and the ability to run through stairs, speed up the credits along with faster health regeneration. Recent additions include a refined chase system coupled with new hiding places and weapons. Your save file is also now protected in case you accidentally choose “NEW GAME” at the main menu.

IMPORTANT!: A certain key has been moved to where you find it in the PlayStation version, so walkthroughs written for the original SNES version may mislead you. Additionally, a cut puzzle has been added to the last part of the game (see List of changes spreadsheet).

PATCHING: First apply any translation patch (not included). Then apply the corresponding Deluxe patch (choose either regular or Classic Chase).

UPDATING: Do not apply the patch to a ROM with an earlier version of this mod, as it could cause crashes! Save files from earlier versions should be compatible, however.

SUPPORTED TRANSLATIONS: English by Aeon Genesis (Headered ROM!), Chinese by Я929, Korean by Cyjzero, Spanish by IlDucci (Headered ROM!), Turkish by knighTeen87 (Headered ROM!), German by RedScorpion, Portuguese by Denver, French by Naboo

TOOLS USED: DiztinGUIsh for code inspection, Mesen-S 0.4.0 for debugging, Notepad++ for code, assembled with Asar 1.81, Hex Workshop for hex editing, Custom tools for research, new sprites, animations and compression, YY-CHR for editing existing graphics

This hack has been tested on a PAL SNES and a Super Famicom system, with an original Super NES Mouse.

Latest update (V2.0): New chase system, new hiding places and events, various unused content restored, save protection where necessary.

Hi, I hope you can read my comment and help me, because I’ve gone crazy and lost my patience.

I followed your instructions to the letter, even though I already had a Spanish-translated ROM in *SMC format. Then I applied your patch for the deluxe version. Everything worked fine UNTIL I got to the parrot’s room while playing, and when I grabbed the picture frame in front of the mirror, the screen froze. This happened to me on the Flash cartridge and in the Mesen emulator.

I reread the instructions and it turns out there’s a whole process. First, I have to translate the Japanese ROM into English AND THEN into Spanish. BUT, according to the “ReadMe,” the Japanese *SFC ROM must have the *SMC extension. I did it manually, and it was a disaster. When I applied the IPS patch for Aeon Genesis (the first person to translate the ROM into English), the emulator displayed everything in strange, incomprehensible characters.

I’ve tried everything in a thousand ways, but it’s no use. Even when I try to translate from Japanese to English while maintaining the *SFC format, it doesn’t translate into English.

Please, I hope you can shed some light on this. I want to play this game on my SNES.

**PLEASE IGNORE MY PREVIOUS COMMENT, AS I WAS UNABLE TO EDIT OR DELETE IT.**
