Bust-A-Move: Precise Controls (Arcade) Romhack

This very simple hack adds the “slow controls” feature of the SNES port to the Neo Geo.

When playing the game, hold down B to enter “precise mode”. Then pressing left or right will only move the shooter by one position each time. This allows you to position the shooter exactly where you want it when doing trickier shots.

To apply the patch

Unzip pbobblen.zip, make sure it is a version intended for MAME
Apply the patch to d96-07.ep1
Make sure the patched rom is still named d96-07.ep1 and overwrote the original one
Zip all the files back up into a new pbobblen.zip
Launch the game in MAME

NOTE: if you try to launch the game from MAME’s UI, it will not let you as it will notice the ROM is different. You will need to use the command line to launch it.

Thanks you for this simple hack that it so essential in puzzle bubble ;-)
I played it on my mister fpga and it worked flowless
Note that neogeo rom do not have the same format in mister fpga (there are these files instead: crom1, m1rom, srom, fpga, prom, vroma0) so what has to be done is to take the patched "d96-07.ep1", rename it into "prom" and put it in the pbobblen.zip fpga version
