Asterix in Egypt is a prototype/beta version of the first Asterix game for Sega Master System. This beta version appeared in many old video game magazines, but it was never released.
It has many differences (mainly in graphics) compared to the final version released in 1991. You can see game captures of the beta from old magazines scans in some threads of SMS Power forum or in other sites like Unseen64.
The aim of this hack is to rebuild the beta version, by modifying graphics and animations from the final rom, to make it similar to the beta captures.
Version 1.0 modifies the graphics of the stages 1 and 2, and the explosive potion item is replaced by the bomb item from the beta version. The attached IPS Patch of this hack can be applied to any version of the original Asterix ROM: “Asterix (E) (V1.0) [!]” or “Asterix (E) (V1.1)”.
