ALTERED BEAST RE-TONED V1.17 and V1.19 MUSIC TRANSPOSED
This patch changes some colours from the original 1988 MegaDrive release, it’s a tiny bit closer to the arcade version, some areas have enhanced contrast.
Some voice samples from the MegaDrive/Genesis version have been slightly altered.
If you prefer the original MegaDrive/Genesis YM2612 music style use V.1.17 and below.
If you prefer a “thicker” style that resembles YM 2151 music then V1.19 alters and transposes the music to make it sound in a similar key to the arcade version.
V.1.19 – Music should now be in the same key as the arcade. The previous version was a bit off by one semitone; this has been fixed, and V1.19 should now play all themes consistently (Apr’26).
V 1.18 – Everything in v1.17 + Additional Sound Enhancements (Apr’26):
-Music & SFX sound thicker and should now be a bit closer to the arcade
-Cleaned up some voice samples
V 1.17 – Additional subtle GFX enhancements (Apr’26).
V 1.16 – Further refinements (Feb’25).
V1.14a – Initial patch.
Tested on GENS & real hardware –
Genesis Model 1 VA3 + Sony Trinitron 14FV300.
