Ys 1 (English Translation) PC-88

An old translation I finished six years ago or so of the very first version of Ys 1. Decided to release finally just to get it out there.

Manual backstory translation here. Also originally translated by me under a different name (Aardvarksforlife), but others have touched it up since then I think.

Translation is kept more accurate to the original PC88 release rather than subsequent Japanese interpretations or English releases. きんのだいざ is “Golden Stand” instead of “Golden Vase,” etc. Even the unused items (like the 1-Ups in Darm Tower) are translated or have been given standardized capitalization.

Some interesting asm hacks were implemented by Rednaxela to bypass internal filesystem limits. While it ended up restricted by message length (so some very clever editing was done, especially on the Books of Ys), the amount cut from the source ended up being fairly minimal thanks to these hacks.
