New ROM Hack for Spot Goes to Hollywood (Mega Drive) Adds Modern Controls, Save Support, and Region-Free Play!
A brand-new ROM hack for Spot Goes to Hollywood on the Sega Mega Drive has just been released, bringing some much-needed quality-of-life improvements to the isometric platformer!
The highlight of the update is the addition of a revamped control scheme, selectable from the game’s Control Options menu. Players can now choose between the Original and Revamped setups:
-
Original retains the classic isometric controls, where pressing up, down, left, or right moves Spot diagonally forward relative to the 3D space.
-
Revamped makes movement more intuitive, moving Spot directly in the direction pressed on the controller — up moves up, left moves left, and so on — making exploration and platforming much more accessible.
In addition, the hack introduces SRAM support: the last password earned after clearing a stage is automatically saved, allowing players to easily continue their progress after a reset without the need to re-enter codes manually.
Finally, the game’s region lock has been disabled, meaning players can now enjoy Spot Goes to Hollywood on hardware from any region without issue.
Whether you’re a longtime fan or new to the game, this hack offers a smoother and more player-friendly way to experience Spot’s cinematic adventure!
