(Version between 4.0 and 3.5) Found in a supposed source code

At this point! New Sunny Shores trees and flowers and other things have been modified and implemented!

Dark Fortress background implemented and more new designs!

Act 4 zones haven't started being made and have been reworked a bit in Debugger Level Select

The "Rez Zone" in Debugger Level Select has already been implemented at this point in this version of this hack!

There are no bosses in SSZ or DFZ. The Sunny Shores and Dark Fortress bosses have been removed at this point and replaced with Sign Post (meaning new bosses would probably be implemented in the game and are in testing).

3.9a was the name I renamed this build that I supposedly found on a website! This version comes in between 3.5 and 4.0, which is literally almost close to Sega CD version 4.0b, but only on Genesis!

This build has some peculiar bugs, such as the Dark Fortress Act 2 (Marble Zone) BG

or when selecting Knuckles and waiting a few seconds for Sonic on the title screen to move

..and no sound when entering the first special stage

Sonic may be stuck in a piece of Dark Fortress Act 3

This version I found was from a source code leak, this version appears to date back a week or two before of the 4.0b release date

Yes, it works on Fusion and Regen emulator but I personally don't like using emulators for everyday gaming. I'm a real hardware fanatic who uses EverDrives. I have two folders for Sonic hacks, one is a normal folder for working games with no issues, the other is for Sonic hacks that are either unfinished, 1 zone demos, broken, crash and or rather peculiar. Unfortunately this one is in the latter as there doesn't seem to be any fix for it on real hardware only. I do appreciate the uploader sharing it on here for the community.

Tried it again on real hardware, still doesn't pass the Sega Sonic Retro Splash Screen, although it works just fine on Regen emulator.

Sorry to say, this version doesn't work on real hardware, it crashes at the Sonic Retro splash screen.
