Description
This patch is primarily designed to tweak and edit the game's font to match the later games and, in some cases, improve readability.
List of changes:
-
Imported the font used from Mega Man 3 onwards, which features improvements over the original like a better "K" or a "Q" that doesn't look like an "O" with two extra pixels.
-
The font for the stage select and Robot Master preview screens has a drop shadow.
-
The "READY" text also has a drop shadow to it.
-
Improved the letters in the pause menu, which had parts of their drop shadow missing or were poorly drawn. Most notably, the "NEXT" inscription had an awkward look to it due to the letters being too close to each other.
-
BONUS: Replaced the small spheres representing the Energy Tanks in the pause menu with proper miniature tanks. The sprite is taken directly from Mega Man IV and V for the Game Boy, although the topmost part is missing due to limitations.
The ZIP contains three patches for each region's release (US, Japan and Europe). It has not been tested with level hacks or the English translation by Aeon Genesis (in the case of the Japanese Rockman 2 ROM).
