Frogger for the SEGA Mega Drive (Genesis) was released in 1998 by Majesco Sales, Inc., marking one of the final official releases for the console. It is a port of the 1981 arcade action classic developed by Konami, featuring the familiar gameplay of navigating a frog across a busy road and a river to safety. Only North America got a release on cartridge.
The problem with this game is that some idiot decided to block the game for PAL regions. The game originally only plays for NTSC-U and NTSC-J and brings up that annoying lock out screen when attempting to boot it up in the (Europe) PAL setting.
This was a very simple fix that took less than a minute and only made with a hex editor, (no other tools).
The result is that it now plays ONLY on the (Europe) PAL setting and is blocked if trying to run it on either NTSC-U or NTSC-J.
INSTRUCTIONS
Inside the ZIP folder you’ll find the IPS patch, it is in Lunar IPS format, simply patch it to the USA retail Genesis version. Once patched, the region lock out will be reversed blocking it in USA and Japan and only working in Europe PAL.
Have a nice day!
