Final Fantasy 7 -- Zero XP and Boosted AP for Bosses v1.00 by RoSoDude https://rosodudemods.wordpress.com/
Final Fantasy 7's XP/AP reward structure deviates from other entries in the series:
- In FF5/FF6/FF9, XP increases geometrically while AP increases linearly. Bosses grant 0 XP and roughly 2-5 battles worth of AP
- In FF7, XP and AP both increase geometrically, with most enemies giving 1 AP per 10 XP. Bosses grant roughly 2 battles worth of both XP and AP
As a result, materia growth is tightly coupled to character level growth. It is difficult to grind materia without overleveling, and characters gain significant levels even when avoiding most normal encounters.
This patch removes all XP rewards from bosses, and triples their AP rewards (except Emerald and Ruby Weapon, which are left at 50,000 AP). Hundred Gunner's Gil and (tripled) AP rewards are added to Heli-gunner since they are otherwise unobtainable. These changes reduce baseline character leveling and shift boss rewards toward materia progression. Players can develop materia builds more freely without exceeding intended level ranges, and low-level runs have greater flexibility.
This patch is incompatible with any other patch that replaces scene.bin, such as GalenMyra's HardType hack, Dr. Dimension's Platinum hack, or CAulin's Reborn hack. The patch was made using NFITC1's ProudClod editor.
