Description

A better well polished PAL converted version of Battlezone. This was hacked from the NTSC release for the Atari 2600. The retail PAL version of this game has so many missing details on it it was not funny due to the early pre video Game crash of 1983 where this game was released. It did not have good gradient sky horizon nor any better ground texture like the NTSC release did.

So I gone ahead and used the NTSC version and fully converted this game to PAL 50.

Game works wonders on any emulator (Especially Stella) This game will work on 0riginal Atari 2600 Hardware (4-switcher, 6 switch & Atari 2600 Jr ) using the harmony cartridge. DISCLAIMER: THIS ROM HACK WILL NOT WORK ON THE NEW ATARI 2600+ ON A HARMONY CARTRIDGE

NOTE: When trying to patch this, Make sure when patching this using Lunar IPS, On the drop menu, Change the setting from “Most Common ROM Files” to “All Files” so that you can patch this to a Atari 2600 ROM format.

The size of the ROM wasn't reduced. Just lazy coding on Atari's part.

So they removed the graphic data from the game and made the ROM smaller? This is quite a dirty move, no offense.

The coding on the PAL version does not have the code or the data for me to be able to add the gradients. I had a check on HackOMatic III the ground data is solid wiothout the extra data to add gradients. I gone ahead and used the NTSC version to convert it to PAL. It runs exactly the same as the PAL version retail release, but with more data.

Why is this hack made on top of the NTSC ROM if the PAL version does exist?
