We at Atelier Traduction and A Reyvateil’s Melody are glad to present today the long-awaited release of our translation and enhancement patch for Ciel nosurge Offline: A Song Offered to the Lost Planet for the PlayStation Vita.
This game, first entry in the Surge Concerto series and fourth overall game set in the Universe of EXA_PICO, which also encompasses the Ar tonelico series, is the only one to have remained Japanese-exclusive after its release as an online live service game back in 2012, even though its sequel Ar nosurge was localized in 2014 as well. An Offline version was released in 2014, and we decided to use it as the basis for the translation project once Vita hacking became a possibility in 2016.
The game concerns the player connecting to a different universe using their Vita and communicating with a girl there called Ionasal.kkll.Preciel, or Ion for short, who has lost all her memories and lives alongside a mysterious shopkeep called Nelico in a sealed world. Therefore, the player’s role is communicating with Ion and learning more about her as she goes about her daily life, as well as Diving into her Dream World, and once there, creating fairies called Sharls to restore Ion’s memories.
The patch includes a complete translation for all the text, graphics, and videos in the game as well as a variety of bugfixes and enhancements, both backported from the 2021 DX remaster of the game as well as made exclusively for the patch. These additions include:
- A glossary of terms
- Soft subtitles for the videos and some voice-only lines
- A voicemail playback menu for the pictures and voicemails sent by Ion to the player after certain events
- A reworked Sharl creation system that no longer requires the camera
- Implementation of the original font for the Emotional Song Pact in-game language
- Restored voiceovers for the Dive Gate from Online
- Restoration of a removed costume and accessory
