This hack of Cobra Triangle adds support for the Famicom Expansion Port Support. code(with minor changes from me) by tepples from nesdev forum: hacking Battletoads to read input from the Famicom Exp port Since the game is also from Rare, the code for the controllers is identical, the only difference is in the addresses where the buttons are stored.
