This is a mini hack of Mario Bros 3 that aims to give the game a new vibe with a fresh coat of paint and vibrant colors. This hack contains 5 levels, and the main objective is to get to the end and retrieve the keys contained in the chests. The levels can be chosen at any order, and can be replayed once completed.

Hack was developed in 3 months. The purpose of this hack was just to try a new game to hack and showcase some cool art. Hope you guys enjoy this little project created.

Amazing hack, congratulations. But it needs some graphical fixes.

Short but sweet

This mini hack shows how nice NES games can really look with just the right use of the color pallet. It's just wonderful to look at. There is a never ending line of ROM hacks that are very impressive from a technical or visual perspective, but are often too difficult or just straight up poorly designed to be of any fun. This hack is not one of them. In terms of difficulty, everything felt just right.

The only issue that cropped up was that sometimes the item didn't spawn properly at the end of the third level (the purple level). The treasure chest would appear, but touching it would show that I got... a treasure chest? And then it would spit me out of the level with no item added to my inventory. I did multiple runs of the hack to see if this was repeatable, and the results were mixed. Sometimes I got the correct item right away, and sometimes I needed to beat the level a second time to get the item. One time I got a star out of it, oddly enough. This issue only seemed to crop up if I beat that level first. I never had this issue when I beat the levels in order from left to right. It's nothing that ruins the hack or anything, especially considering that the levels are short so repeat playthroughs aren't so bad, but it is a minor annoyance that I felt needed pointing out. Note: This is me using the latest version of the ROM hack at the time of this review. I played it on mesen.

Overall, I think this is a fantastic mini hack that's definitely worth people's time. Well done to ShemonMonk and all others involved in making it!
