A complete English patch for PopoloCrois Story II on PlayStation. This cult classic RPG was ported and released in the west for PlayStation Portable but was mashed together with its predecessor, resulting in a lot of content changed/cut from both games, and the port itself was poorly made and sloppily translated. For the first time this game can now finally be fully played in English in its original form. Based on LostOkina’s v0.3 patch: https://www.romhacking.net/translations/6457/ Tested on real hardware, Retroarch (SwanStation core), standalone DuckStation and no$psx. Experience may vary on other emulators. Download: https://mega.nz/file/KJ5UQRoC#M5y4GEVPUBdc78U276PosDfwOHaQ_gXVIQ5Bu4AL5Tk A translation of the game’s manual is available […]

Have you applied the included xdelta files to each respective disc image (instructions in readme)? This download is only the files needed to patch the game and not the game itself.

I downloaded it but it doesn't seem to load on android duckstation, am I doing something wrong?

If you need a mirror for the patch besides Mega, isn't it at least uploaded to this very website already?
Btw, multiup is not a great suggestion. Don't expect anything uploaded though burner uploading services to actually last.

Again I can't answer that, LostOkina did the FMV subs long before I picked up the project. Will pass it on

Hey there, great job completing the translation!

I just wanted to point out that there's no need to replace/re-encode the PS1 FMVs to hardsub them, you can use jPSXdec to only inject the hardsubbed frames, and such edits would increase the patch size merely by a small margin, too.

Also, since it's kind of the same topic anyway, a few criticisms regarding the video subtitles:

None of the sentences end with periods for some reason. Why?

The lines aren't timed to keyframes. I know that most people don't care or notice this kind of thing, but this small detail really makes the subtitles feel professional when addressed.

If you'd like to, I can provide new subtitles — as pre-hardsubbed FMVs or just the .ass softsubs.

The FMVs are letterboxed in the original game too, I don't think anything can be done about that, sorry.

LostOkina subbed the FMVs, I think he didn't bother with the intro (and the circus cutscene) because there's only 1-2 words in them ("Gilbert", "Narcia", and "Awesome") and replacing them entirely just to sub them would increase the patch file size for that disc greatly for little gain. Will bring it up.

Yes, I had to trim dialogue in a few spots due to character/memory space limitations (those screenshots aren't examples though, will tweak their translation in an update). The English font used was already in the game so it was easy and better just to use that over completely replacing it like had to be done for the 1st game. Thanks for the feedback.

Thanks for the updated translation patch, much appreciated.

So far it works fine in Mednafen, but I did notice the intro FMV wasn't subtitled, be nice to see subs added if possible. On that note, I have noticed that the FMVs in this game have black bars, would increasing the frame size would cause quality / disc spave issues?

https://github.com/SnowyAria/Transl...ter/Console_Specific/PS1/STR Subtitle Applier Did you try using this tool for the currently unsubtitled lines?

Here's a few lines I saw that seemed slightly clunky and could use some rephrasing. Are some of these shortened from the Japanese because of no VWF? Maybe adding extra dialogue IDs could help?

Thank you very much for the work of everyone involved in this translation. I have a small suggestion to do: could you please upload this file to other servers than mega? Mega has limits regarding how many GBs you can download and in rare ocasions they block downloads for no reason. This site allows you to upload the file to multiple servers if you want it https://multiup.io/

Does your system have a modchip? Because that may be the cause. LostOkina did the testing on real hardware and he was able to play it using the swap trick. Unfortunately when its English patch eventually comes out that will not work for PopoRogue.

Thanks for the updated translation patch. Found untranslated magic/skills from Corpse Flower in Jungle. Patch v1.2

Ah yes I found that myself a little while ago, will be fixed along with a few more other things in the next update when it releases
