[Graphics/Technical] [NES] Improvements for WCW

Hi everyone,

A long time ago, I released a hack for WCW World Championship Wrestling that restores WCW Master's original portrait & head from Superstar Pro Wrestling, which makes him look more like Andre the Giant.

It also fixes text errors of some of the wrestling moves, and Rick Steiner's name as well.

I created this ad, because I would like to further improve this game, but I need help on the things that I would like to add to my hack.

I would like to see if it's possible to make it where the legs for Ric Flair, Lex Luger, Kevin Sullivan, Mike Rotunda, Rick Steiner and Steve Williams share the same palette that their upper bodies uses, for during gameplay and the ending screen. To make them look more accurate to their real life counterparts during that time period:

Including fix the palettes for the other wrestlers for the ending screen, they all still use the ones from Superstar Pro Wrestling, they never change them when they brought the game over here.

I also would like to see if it's possible to tone down the AI's behavior, to be less aggressive.

That's why I'm looking for an expert, that's really good on hacking NES ROMs, to help me on this.

If someone can help me on this, that would be great.

Okay, as I mentioned via pm the other day, I had a little free time and started tinkering around with the graphics during matches.

I hit a bit of a roadblock. It turns out that all the playable wrestlers share the same graphics for their bodies and legs. The yellow colors of most of the wrestlers that shouldn't be wearing pants are also the hair colors for Ric Flair and the other blonde wrestlers.

I have an idea for how to get around this, tho I completely lack the skills to do it.

I was thinking a second set of the wrestlers' body and leg frames in an expanded rom that are called when you pick a wrestler that shouldn't be in pants. This set of graphics would be identical to the normal set, except all the leg frames would use the same palette color as the torsos.

I have a patch here with those leg frame changes done from when I was messing around as a test run - that way if someone is able to make that idea happen at some point down the line, they already have the second set of graphics ready to go.

And while unrelated to your help wanted ad, I'm also attaching a small separate patch that changes the TOUCH graphic used during tag team matches with one that says TAG! in case you're interested.

I'm currently attempting to make my way to the ending scene so I can get those leftover super pro wrestling palettes changed to their WCW counterparts. And I can see why you want to get the AI toned down after being mercilessly beaten by Hayes with a wrench like he just caught me sleeping with his wife. :lol:
