I've published an update that adds an error screen if your emulator is unsupported. This hack uses very advanced features of an uncommon mapper, so there are many emulators that this will not work with.
Added readme. CHANGELOG --------- v2.1 (2023-11-27) - added respective alternate characters viruses to ending - fixed an unknown multiplayer pose for alternate characters (it's supposed to appear during multiplayer battles, but I still don't know what exactly triggers it) v2.0 (2023-11-07) - full code rewrite - added character selection - new title screen - added winning pose to single player - added stage palette changing every five stages (up to stage 25) - allow to return to title screen during game setup by pressing B button - fixed a timer interruption issue that could cause extremely rare freezes - graphics and palettes tweaks - restored DMG compatibility v1.0 (2020-07-20) - first version

I would suggest, if possible, to use a more accurate core with retroarch.
Will contact the author to see if he can fix! It does work beautifully on MESEN2 though.
I can't get this to run on my 3DS. Used the correct hashes. It doesn't want to run on any of the injection methods. It doesn't boot up on VirtuaNES on my computer either. Only on NEStopia. Bummer!
